Welcome to OPEN ROADS 2002
June 17th Dodge City, Wyatt Earp country
We set off early and after 5mins. Peter asks if I know where his hat and goggles are! I have enough trouble looking after my own stuff, let alone his. Turn the car upside down, no sign, ring the hotel, no luck. He is inconsolable for the rest of the day. He is very attached to his goggles. We head out into prairie country, herds of cattle appear, Long horns, Herefords, the real old fashioned ones that are disappearing from the U.K. a herd of Buffalo with young calves by the roadside. The day starts cool and cloudy but we soon leave the cloud and the temperature soars.
Arrive very hot and windblown in Dodge City, the home of Wyatt Earp. A photocall at Boothill leads to another International Incident. Wyatt Earp is required to create order.
The story goes something like this:
(Apologies to both Ann's)
The twin SU's win the day and Jesse wins the lady. Her prize a trip round Boothill. Much cheering by the crowd.

John Wayne concedes defeat and goes off in disgust to handle a more challenging lady,
the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway engine.
What a beauty
